Product Description
The Ghillie shirt (also known as a Jacobite shirt) is an informal shirt known for its distinctive criss-cross tie, similar to that seen on the Ghillie Brogue. A distinct part of highlander dress since before the 16th century, ghillie shirts are traditionally worn with kilts during informal situations, when the added mobility afforded by the ghille shirt’s comfortable design is of use. For example, sword fighting.
Historically the ghillie shirt and brogues were worn by Ghillies, or ‘those who worked the land.’ The signature cross-tie fastening of both afforded the wearer comfort and mobility as they worked through the marshes and hills of Scotland.
Available in a variety of colors, including a blue-and-white saltire. Sizes S through XXL.
